Aimless Bakes

Aimless is my now lovingly embraced nickname which I abhorred in college. Although thrilled to earn a moniker, I bristled at the insinuation I was aimless. “I have goals and purpose,” I whined. “I have direction,” I sulked. Sure, my goals and purpose were in the direction of the nearest penny beer barn, but hey, I had them. Years passed, and the swirling dust cloud that was my life finally settled when I married, finished a graduate degree, and became a mom.

Yet Aimless persisted, morphing into my alter ego to whom I may actually start referring in third person. (Look out, Jimmy.) Spurred by her conviction that all existential questionings can be answered by comparing the universality of baked goods, Aimless’ motto is: Take on the bake. She’s curious. She’s industrious. She’s got big plans. She might get lost. And that’s ok.

Me? Sure, I can do the getting lost part. And I’m curious, too. But let’s be clear. I’m no baker, nor photographer. I am a try-er. If you are looking for precise instructions, professional tips, or shiny photographs of complex culinary delights, I am not your people. But I am stumbling upon those people as I learn, and I’ve started a list to help me out (seeReal Deals). Do you know one? Maybe you are one. Why are you reading this?! I need you! Email me before your butter goes room temperature!

Unless your recipe calls for room temperature butter.  What are you making? Will you share the … Wait. Is it hard? Like that Salvador Dali cake? Nope. Waaay too hard. Plus, it takes too long. Gotta make something under my hunger threshold (5 hours, max). Amiright?!

Be Aimless with me! See you out there. (high five) Only butter pats, please. And if you don’t like puns, quit now. Party runs 24/7, y’all.

Aimless is Amy Pieri – an amalgamation of  Chicago, Miami, San Antonio, Houston, and Denver influences, she now lives in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and completely ignores high altitude baking conversions. Screw that.
